Jessica Valentine
I am a proud Kansas Native! Growing up I loved to read, use my imagination, and create art. I have an adult daughter, Vera, who is freshly out in the world paving her own way! I live with my cat, Frances. I create digital/acrylic paintings, write, and illustrate my own books.
I have Classical-Like subtype of Ehlers Danlos, an extremely rare connective tissue disorder. This disorder has caused me to have vascular problems, scoliosis, and learning difficulties. I am on the spectrum with Sensory Processing Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Researchers have recently found a link, proving that people with EDS are much more likely to have Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and anxiety.
My difficulties growing up inspired me to write children's books. Despite my disadvantages, I love to wake up and wonder what I'll create today! Life can be hard, but I smile everyday and celebrate the wins, even the small ones! I have felt like I have had to hide behind a mask most of my life trying to be 'normal'. I want everyone to know that it is ok to take off the mask and to just be yourself!
